Who Are We?

We are a group of diverse women – single and married, with and without children, working in and outside of the home, young and young at heart, all at different places along our faith journey – who seek fellowship with each other and a greater understanding of our Catholic faith in order to enrich our lives and help us cope with the ever-changing challenges presented by today's society.

To facilitate our mission, we will gather monthly from September through May in a relaxing and casual  environment where women can cultivate new friendships, share in good conversation, support and network with each other, while enjoying glass of wine and hearing an interesting and thought-provoking presentation from a key-note speaker on a topic consistent with our mission.

Here's Howe

The Arlington Naples
Faith and Wine Board and Officers

My name is Mary Beth Clary and I am a parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.  I am also the President of this amazing ministry for women of all ages and stages along their faith journey.

First, a little background:  when my board and I took on this ministry early in the summer of 2011, we really had no idea what we were getting into.  For our first event in September 2011, we optimistically thought we would have 75 best.  We were astounded (and not well prepared for) the 150 ladies who showed up.  There was much confusion, long lines, delays in check-in, and a host of other challenges.  And that was before the lights went out right as our speaker, Father John Ludden, began to talk!  The placement of the “stage” directly under the emergency lights and the candles on each of the tables was either clever advance planning (NOT!), extreme luck, or divine intervention!  We really knew God was with us when we managed not to run out of wine.  We learned a lot during that first event and we tried to improve with each subsequent event.  But it still seems a bit surreal that we are now in our third season and still going strong!

Based upon feedback we received last year indicating that the ladies who attended bigger named speakers and were willing to pay more for them, we have planned an extraordinary series, including:

  • two joint Faith and Wine/Faith and Ale events featuring the nationally known speakers, radio show hosts, and writers, Patrick Madrid and Patrick Coffin;
  • a one-woman performance (think dinner theater) about Saint Catherine of Siena from Sister Nancy Murray, a nun who is the sister to the actor/comedian, Bill Murray;
  • a Cincinnati artist, Holly Schapker, whose paintings interpret the mission of St. Ignatius of Loyola is the founder of the Society of Jesus;
  • a popular local priest, Father Dennis Cooney, who will be giving us greater insight into Mother Teresa; and,
  • Wink TV news anchor, Lois Thome, who will examine the dichotomy between her Catholic faith and her profession.

In addition to great speakers, Faith and Wine offers you the opportunity to meet and network with women who share your fundamental beliefs – this is so empowering! And, of course, there is the wine!

None of this would be possible without the talent, hard work, and commitment of my board: returning members Renee Beckner, Natalie Campbell, Judith Dolkas, Karen Judd, and Peggy McCloud, and new members Julie Mitchell, Nancy Squittieri, and Lindsay Tesniarz. I am so blessed to have the opportunity to work with these amazing women. The other group that deserves special mention is our generous sponsors. I ask that you look over our list of Sponsors (you can visit their websites by clicking on their names on the list of sponsors on our website or on their logos on this page) and please contact them if you are in need of their services or products.

Thank you all for your ongoing encouragement, constructive criticism, and support. I am so excited about this 2013-2014 season for Faith & Wine and hope you will be able to join us!
