My Lord God, so often we dash through our day,
And so when we sit down to supper and pray…
We hurry along and make fast the blessing:
“Thank you God, Amen. Now please pass the dressing.”
We're slaves to our I-pod, laptop, and cell phone,
We race through our grace to beat the next ring tone.
But Lord, I would like to take one minute more
To really give thanks for Your blessings galore!
For my family, my health, a really soft bed,
My friends, my freedom, a roof over my head.
I’m so thankful Lord, for gifts beyond measure,
Thankful in my heart, lives life's greatest treasure.
That You, my dear Jesus, reside in that place,
And I feel so bless with Your unending grace.
Please, Lord, my God, bless this food You've provided,
Bless everyone to our table invited.
